Beauty studio software that keeps turns fair between techs
A full lash set and a brow tidy don't take the same time, and a tech's own regulars book differently than a stranger's walk-in. JotSchedule keeps one turn count for the studio, and remembers the rest for each client.
A full leg wax and a brow tidy aren't the same turn
Treating every appointment as one turn makes the tech doing quick brow tidies all day look equal to the one doing full leg waxes and lash sets, and nobody in the room believes that.
So every service carries its own turn value, 0 to 9, in half steps. A full lash set can be worth 2, a brow tidy half a turn. Set a service to 0 and it's booked, billed and completed normally without moving that tech's place in line at all. The count moves when the tech starts the service, not when it finishes, and goes back if the service is cancelled.
Remembers which tech a regular sees, and how long they take
Save a client's preferred tech to their record, and the board shows it the moment they come in — a note for whoever's at the desk, not an automatic assignment. It's what stops a regular being handed to whoever's free when they always see the same person.
Every tech can also set their own timing for a given service, so a lash fill booked with a slower tech and the same fill booked with a faster one don't both get squeezed into the same slot. Bookings match how your studio actually runs, not one average time for every tech.
Appointments and walk-in fill-ins on the same board
An appointment holds a time with a particular tech. A walk-in joins the live queue and is served in rotation order, put with whoever will be free soonest. Both show on the same board, on that tech's own column, so a walk-in can't be dropped on top of a booked lash fill.
The board updates in real time as the front desk works through it, so everyone watching it sees the same picture without refreshing.
When someone gets passed over
Sometimes a client won't wait, or asks for a specific tech, and the front desk moves them on — a front-desk decision, with a reason attached, since a tech can't skip their own turn from their phone.
The tech who was passed over keeps their place, and if it happens to the same person twice in a row, the next walk-in goes to them ahead of the normal order.
Every tech's schedule is on their own phone
No account, no email, no password. You generate a one-time code, they enter it once on their own phone, and that phone stays signed in. It shows their own schedule for the day and week — never anyone else's — and it installs to the home screen like an app.
This is on both plans, and the page says Esthetician, Lash Tech, Brow Artist, or whatever your team actually calls itself.
Clients with an appointment can check themselves in
ProOpen the check-in page on a tablet at the front desk. Someone who booked ahead types their name, finds their appointment and taps to check in, and it lands on your board straight away.
This is for people who already have an appointment. Walk-ins are still added by whoever is at the desk.
Questions owners actually ask
Can a full lash set count as more than one turn?
Yes. Every service has a turn value from 0 to 9, moving in half steps — a full lash set might be 2 turns and a brow tidy half a turn. A service set to 0 is billed and completed normally without moving the tech's place in the rotation. The turn is credited when the tech starts the service and handed back if it's cancelled.
Can a regular always book with the same tech?
Save a client's preferred tech to their record and the board shows it when they come in — a note for the front desk, not an automatic assignment, so a walk-in still can't jump the rotation. Booking online, that same client can pick their tech directly.
Do slower and faster techs get different booking times for the same service?
Yes. Each tech can set their own timing for a service, so a lash fill booked with one tech doesn't get squeezed into the same slot as the same fill with someone faster. That's a per-tech setting, not a single average applied to everyone.
What happens when a tech skips a turn?
A tech can't skip their own turn — passing a client to someone else is done at the front desk, with a reason recorded. The tech who was passed over keeps their place, and if it happens twice in a row the next walk-in goes to them ahead of the normal order.
Do walk-ins and booked appointments mix in one queue?
They share a board, not a single list. An appointment holds a specific time with a specific tech; a walk-in joins the live queue and is served in rotation order. Both appear on that tech's timeline for the day, which is what stops a walk-in being started on top of a booking.
